Police officers with zip ties eventually started taking protesters into custody, leading them to a white police bus with flashing red and blue lights. Las Vegas police said 58 people were cited for assembling to disturb the peace, a misdemeanor.

The City of San Antonio’s plan to convert a downtown hotel into a shelter for people without homes is leaving dozens of the hotel’s workers surprised and without jobs. The city council voted Oct. 19 to lease the 313-room Holiday Inn at Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Santa Rosa Avenue and have San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries (SAMM) operate it as a 200-room, low-barrier homeless shelter. The two-year, $8.8 million lease begins on Nov. 1, and SAMM hopes to move its clients from the city’s current shelter at a different downtown hotel and have them settled in by Thanksgiving.

OAKLAND — The results of a three-year city investigation unveiled on Friday revealed that 128 hotel workers were collectively underpaid $404,491 for nearly a year’s worth of paychecks — the largest wage theft finding in Oakland’s history. The guard was scratched by the bear and taken to the hospital, where he was treated before being released. Aspen police and Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers located the bear but were unable to tranquilize or capture it after midnight Tuesday. Search efforts were put on hold but resumed Tuesday evening

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas woman faces charges of grand larceny and burglary after police say she left her “sugar daddy” at a concert, broke into his hotel room, and stole more than $50,000 from him, according to police documents. On Sunday, Oct. 15, police were called to Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino after a man in his 50s told police he was the victim of grand larceny, the report stated. The man told police he met a woman in her 20s, identified as Hailey McNally on a dating website called “Seeking Arrangement,” five weeks prior.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Post Oak Hotel is standing by its employees amid allegations of restaurant staff discriminating against Black guests. The popular hotel in Houston's Uptown area was slammed with two lawsuits nearly two weeks apart. Although the lawsuits are in reference to separate incidents, they are both accusing the hotel restaurant employees of singling them out for their race and enforcing dress code restrictions that allegedly weren't applied to white guests.

Police in Paphos arrested a 20-year-old individual on Sunday in connection with an ongoing investigation involving a hotel room burglary and theft. According to Paphos police spokesman Michalis Nicolaou, the incident was reported by a 43-year-old female visitor staying at a hotel in Kato Paphos. She alleged that between 10am and 2pm, her hotel room was broken into and a gold ring belonging to her was stolen.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was found shot and critically injured in the lobby of a downtown hotel Monday afternoon, Chicago fire officials said. Video from Chopper 7 showed the man on a stretcher, being taken away by ambulance. Chicago police said that man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition after being shot in the abdomen and thigh. The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. near Rush and Ohio streets. Paramedics were initially called to the lobby of the Marriott Hotel, located at 540 N. Michigan Ave. in River North.

Attorneys for hotel chains and a sex-trafficking survivor sparred in a Wednesday hearing over what kind of awareness of and participation in her trafficking the survivor must show in order to claim the hotels are liable for trafficking at their Michigan locations. Eleven hospitality companies, including Marriott International, Red Roof Inn and G6, franchisor of the Motel 6 brand, told a Michigan federal judge that the plaintiff, who is suing under the initials K.O., has fallen far short of pleading that the hotels knew she was being trafficked or that they participated in any way in the crime, arguing that the suit must be dismissed.
