Eight hotels in Rochdale have been identified as "premises of concern" following an undercover operation to tackle child sexual exploitation. Investigators carried out test hotel bookings in the borough to see if staff spotted obvious signs of abuse and whether they took action, police said. Inquiries were led by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and Rochdale Council as part of Operation Cobalt. The force said it was committed to helping people spot the signs.

The suspect, Andreea Catalina Rosca, also known as Nicole Morri is described as a 34-year-old white woman, standing at 5'01" and weighing 100 lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes.
Barona, a surfing hopeful for the 2024 Paris Olympics, died in El Salvador on Tuesday while he was visiting for a competition. El Salvador National Civil Police (PNC) said Barona "suffered seizures while he was in a hotel in El Zonte, La Libertad" in a statement. The surfer was taken to a hospital when he was found, according to the PNC, "however, he was already deceased." The PNC said they have "ruled out" homicide.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The incident began when the watch’s owner initially left the Rolex, valued at $15K, on a counter before going to sleep at about 1:30 a.m., according to Las Vegas TV station KLAS.

The City of San Antonio’s plan to convert a downtown hotel into a shelter for people without homes is leaving dozens of the hotel’s workers surprised and without jobs. The city council voted Oct. 19 to lease the 313-room Holiday Inn at Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Santa Rosa Avenue and have San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries (SAMM) operate it as a 200-room, low-barrier homeless shelter. The two-year, $8.8 million lease begins on Nov. 1, and SAMM hopes to move its clients from the city’s current shelter at a different downtown hotel and have them settled in by Thanksgiving.

OAKLAND — The results of a three-year city investigation unveiled on Friday revealed that 128 hotel workers were collectively underpaid $404,491 for nearly a year’s worth of paychecks — the largest wage theft finding in Oakland’s history. The Radisson Hotel, located on Edes Avenue less than a mile south of the Oakland Coliseum, failed to pay the correct minimum wage rates to its housekeepers, front desk staff and other employees between July 2019 and April 2020, according to the city’s Department of Workplace and Employment Standards.
