Europe set to add 45,000 new hotel rooms in 2024

Figures from hotel sector analyst Lodging Econometrics (LE) showed that 45 hotels opened in Europe during the first three months of the year adding a total of around 6,000 new rooms. Another 281 new properties are forecast to open during the rest of the year adding just over 39,000 rooms. Although overall numbers for 2024 were down from the company’s previous estimate of 350 new hotels and 48,600 rooms opening this year.

Wood rejects third Dubai takeover bid

The board of Wood Group has rejected a third takeover offer from Sidara. The latest cash offer of 220p per Wood share represents an increase of approximately 3.8% to the previous proposal of 212p, submitted on 14 May, which was a 3.4% uplift on the original 205p proposal submitted on 30 April.
